We have those with our similarly fluffy dog. I'd love to see a visualization of the airflow disturbances caused by walking through the space, because yeah, it's definitely a thing

That's kinda the point though, isn't it? We built the steam shovel to do the boring jobs, not the exciting ones

I dunno if it's still a hot take but I enjoyed both Waterworld and The Postman and never really understood all the fuss

Overall yeah, standalone is lower friction, PCVR suffers from the PC gaming problem where keeping it in working condition requires ongoing work, but if your system's all set up and headset stays plugged in it's way easier than putting on the Quest and typing in a URL (and finding the battery's dead)

The WebXR experience for PCVR is pretty great, you're just browsing around like normal and can seamlessly switch from 2d to VR and back. Unfortunately the industry has mostly abandoned that in favor of more convenient standalones, but those 100% kill that, and the friction of switching is too high

I see those dance moves and immediately think "that's weird, those should be penguin flippers"

"wow, nice desk!"

Worth noting that the Brave implementation mentioned in that thread was removed some time last year

This is what my house looked like the day my son was born. He came two weeks early.

It was overwhelming. We got drywall up and then stopped work and lived with no floors or doors for 6 months.

I know the hopeless feeling well. It gets better, I promise.

Irony poisoning is a real thing and I'm tired of seeing my friends succumb to it 😞
March 26, 2025 at 6:23 PM
Honestly think a lot of our modern problems stem from the fact that gallows humor and ironic shitposting are, for many people, indistinguishable from real beliefs the speaker might hold. We end up shocked that our friends might think that way, and it then attracts the kind of people who really DO

I'm getting Journeyman Project vibes from this. Not quite the same, but somewhere between Myst and an FPS with RPG elements

Looking forward to the minigame where you have to go back and forth haggling with the Cuban embassy and the Soviet attache to secure a transit visa as part of your escape plan

I had help from @textfiles.com with the name, he's been poking me for years now to finish this project up 😅

I grew up with both Doom and Quake mapping, although I haven't done it in decades. I'd love to build this same sort of web viewer for .bsp files, it's definitely doable - maybe one day I'll find the time.

I've been working on this for Doom WADs - it only works with oldschool Doom wads though, not newer gzdoom format wads. Clicking the play button on the level preview loads the wad in a web port of Chocolate Doom

Still a work in progress but if you wanna try it out it's here bai.dev/doom/doomscr...

Nice. Yeah I was up in the fire roads above Marin the other day, those hills are really happy after all the rain we got earlier this year
March 7, 2025 at 6:46 AM
Nice, though I can't tell if this is at the Windows XP hill or the Marin open space

I played the hell out of this game as a kid, and I still remember the traditional meanings of different types and colors of flowers because of one of the puzzles

See? I knew we wouldn't have to wait long.
