I've become one of those people who only posts to self-promote, so people will be right to ignore me. But being a Best American Short Stories contributor is too big a deal not to shout it into the void. Thanks so much @cathomps.bsky.social @pronounced-ing.bsky.social, Nicole Lamy, etc!

If a story appears in TWO anthologies, that means it isn't a fluke, right?

It still doesn't feel real, but I've started getting emails from the @marinerbooks.bsky.social marketing people, so apparently I really am going to be in Best American Short Stories 2025! Thank you Harvard Review, @cathomps.bsky.social @pronounced-ing.bsky.social

I knew I shouldn’t have used that @!*$# AI!

A classic example of how Google's AI is garbage, it doesn't understand that the Underground Railroad wasn't a literal railroad

I'm glad your friend recommended sef-promotion. These books are relevant to my interests... Well, they're relevant to my life at least!

A number of artists and creators have made their home on Bluesky, and we hear their concerns with other platforms training on their data. We do not use any of your content to train generative AI, and have no intention of doing so.

I have TWO books and they are both VERY GOOD

You should buy them as a set because the first is the queer Mormon story as told through a Mormon lens and the second is the queer Mormon story when we say eff that lens and we live in the way that brings us the most happiness
I spoke to you with silence by Kerry Pray and Jenn Lee Smith THE BOOK OF QUEER

A theology journal publishing fiction by a queer agnostic? It's more likely than you think! Thank you @ecotheo.bsky.social

Exciting mail day! A thousand thanks to @cathomps.bsky.social and everyone at Harvard Review. This has been a lovely experience.

(The story is part of my "gay Utahns in the pandemic" triptych. Another is coming out in a few weeks from NER. The third is still available, editors HMU!)

Meanwhile in Chile, my book from 2000 will soon be out in Spanish, thx to the wonderful Francisco Cardemil and the folks at Pez Espiral! Pretty buff statuary…

I've lightened up to the extent that I no longer pay attention, because I don't think it's good enough to warrant my time. Is that the appropriate extent of lightening up?

Not the point of this post, but it's a divine injustice that Rami Malek has an Oscar and Carly Chaikin doesn't.

Actual "Bucket List" journal acceptance today. If it had just come seven days sooner, I could have kept believing I was psychic!
bannedinutah.bsky.social
My prediction that something good would happen in September is perilously close to not coming true. Am I... not psychic?
bannedinutah.bsky.social
Well it must literally be the literal truth, if we both say so! (Typeo or not.)
bannedinutah.bsky.social
I agree... it's literally the strongest thing about their "brand."
