There I was, all motivated to get back building my personal webpage when I discovered that WordPress.com is selling all user data to OpenAI to train their LLM. I guess I'll need to find a new place to host my website before I do anything.

There's a new Youtube channel that gives surprisingly GMing advice that I'm watching, and I just can't help but shake the feeling that its scripts seem AI generated. The general writing style ("It's not just X - it's Y"), the way they Give A Special Name to basic advice, it all feels... off.

An alert to all creatives using #WeTransfer. Basically, stop immediately! As of August, they will begin scraping everything you send for AI purposes (see the new paragraph in their Terms and Conditions below).

If, like me, you’re a voice artist, they’ll clone your voice. Avoid at all costs.

I am devastated to learn of my dear friend and fellow philosopher Helen De Cruz’s passing.

With Helen's blessing, her husband Johan and I agreed to circulate a GoFundMe on their children’s behalf.

Please feel free to share and circulate widely.

Google Maps does this weird thing in Brussels where it gives half of the location names in French and half in Flemish. I don't see how this kind of multilingualism is useful for anyone!

A *null* result I'm very proud of!

Led by Rustam Romaniuc, 35 coauthors from all over France tested nudge interventions to boost voter turnout.

None worked, and we are possibly not surprised -- but a well-powered null result *is* a result!

I know @safety.bsky.app team is not a big one but it doesn’t look good when you have a huge wave of new users from Turkey because of government enforced censorship on X/Twitter and then you silently add a country specific moderation service and start blocking users.

What a beautiful performance. I got teary-eyed just watching a video recording of this, I can't imagine seeing Paul McCartney in person, still rocking the scene at the age of 82 and keeping my cool.
And in the end...

Imo you should have to include a bibliography at the end of the article so readers get a special little thrill of joy upon seeing that a 28 page article is really 24 pages or whatever. Unfortunately this can't excuse endnotes, though, because nothing excuses endnotes. Some crimes cannot be forgiven.
