non-voters were self-righteous for not accepting and supporting a genocide, but if dems back down when it's absolutely a bad idea to, well THAT'S just them having proper compassion for their constituents, you can't blame them for it.

anyway, the fervor isn't that people think he'll be president or something, it's that the biggest city in the country just elected an actually likable politician, and a socialist at that. that shifts expectations. and considering the whole country was paying attention, it's a national shift.

virtual events, by default, aren't social, since the base definition is basically "we all look at the same livestream and there's a comment section". i don't like the catholic church, but i'm always glad to see more acknowledgement of how awful the internet is for socializing

they serve as an example, that politicians can actually be charismatic and do their job of protecting normal people instead of throwing them under the bus. makes it harder for the old guard to doom us over and over by forcing crazy-low standards and ditching their responsibilities.
