This isn't the first trans pride flag raising at Salt Lake City Hall, but it is the first time for the new Sego Visibility Flag they made in response to Utah's ban on pride flags on government property. Project Rainbow and other orgs worked with the city for this to kick off Trans Awareness Week.

"For the first time this year, we're celebrating that both trans campaigns [combined] have more sign-ups than the Pride campaign," Jacey Thornton, ED for Project Rainbow said. "We had like 1,800 flags for our last TDOV, that was a record, that was March. [For Trans Awareness Week] we are at 1,450."

HB 77 seems to have had a chilling effect on Project Rainbow Utah's flag campaigns. After setting records for Trans Day of Remembrance & Trans Day of Visibility, sign-ups for Pride are down compared to 2024. You can still sign up and help support LGBTQ+ Utahns!

And here is the ever fabulous Zaza and founding members from various orgs announcing the new coalition. It was beautiful to be surrounded by music and community and most of all trans joy on Trans Day of Visibility, especially amid the often hostile political climate our community faces.
