The puppy is fully grown and no longer puppy-sized (but absolutely still puppy in spirit), and she still wants to live in my skin.

Pictured below is what a luna moth cocoon looks like, btw! They're not the only caterpillars that cocoon like this, ie use dead leaves, buuut they are my favorite.
A photo of the ground, covered in brown, dead leaves with grass poking thru, and in the center of the image is a brown lump that has leaves curled around it almost like a blanket. That brown, fibrous lump is a luna moth cocoon, and can easily be mistaken for dry, dead leaves.

Here's what the crock looked like, before glazing! It went into the kiln today. 🤞 #pottery
A large water-sealed fermentation (or pickling) crock, made out of red clay, is sitting upon a beige colored worktable. The crock has a lid with a knob handle, a tall rim with a spout, a half-circle handle on either side of curved walls, and ends with a rounded foot. It has just come out of the bisque firing and is ready for glaze, a bottle of which can be partially seen to the right. In the background are dried flowers in a mason jar, a travel coffee mug, and a small pumpkin decoration.

My dad made me a wedging table for working clay (the top will be filled with pottery plaster) and he made it out of the wood from the bunk beds my sister and I slept in. 🥹🥰

What a kick in the nostalgia. I love it.
A 2 foot by 2 foot table that comes up to hip height made from reclaimed/recycled wood. The top is a warm, finished knotty pine that's turned gold from age and sun, with a pine tree sticker on the left corner. The legs are an older, unfinished wood that's gone grey from age. The top is sunk down about 2 inches to allow for a plaster table top to be poured.

The inspiration: The piece:
A piece of watermelon tourmaline being held in someone's fingertips. The top of the gem is a spring/lime green, and the bottom is a deep rosey pink. The gem has been left raw, so the crystalline structure is easy to see. A ceramic cup made from white stoneware clay that has long, imperfect facets cut into the sides. The top has been glazed a hazy rosey pink, the bottom a bright lime green, and where the colors meet turns into a feathered blend of the two.

This is a cross-section of how it'll work, for anyone interested! The water allows for gases to escape, while not allowing in any bacteria or mold to get to your pickles. Pretty genius, really!

I did make a lid for this, but right now it just looks like a bowl. 😆
A cross-section cutaway of a water-sealed pickling or fermentation crock. It shows how the lid sits inside the double-rimmed crock, with water in the valley of the rims. The water will let gases escape but doesn't allow for mold or bacteria to enter, thus 'sealing' the crock.

I said I would try, despite not knowing what it was.

After a couple hours of research, and one failed attempt, here's the biggest thing I've thrown yet! 8lbs of clay. Phew! #pottery #ceramics
A very large brown clay pot upon a dirty pottery wheel. The pot has a slight belly, and the rim is split into two rims with a deep valley between them. The room between the two rims will hold water, which will keep the pickling that will happen inside the pot bacteria- and mold-free.

He's a super senior; 13 years old and going strong. To match his powder-sugar face, he's missing a tooth or two up front now, so he bleps more often. For being roughly 91 years old, I think he's doing pretty good. 😂

A huge bowl (14" wide) made from white stoneware sitting on a dirty potter's wheel. The sides of the bowl have a very gradual slope leading up from a flat bottom. Beyond the bowl are two dirty buckets and a small table with a bag of clay and a coffee mug.

I was pretty pleased with how this mug turned out! It just came out of the first kiln firing successfully. Now I'm just waiting for a glaze I ordered to come in.
