Is anyone else relieved that Disney resisted the 2010s urge to call it "2ootopia?"

As I was posting this story, I happened to think of the Stephen Vincent Benet story "By the Waters of Babylon," which I haven't thought about since high school.

I wonder how much I owe to a story I forgot about nearly forty years ago.

Can't believe what just came in the mail.

My tax refund.

For 2022.

(Yes, I did verify it, yes, it's real. It's a loooooong story.)

Thanksgiving dinner was a hit...

My writing: Werewolves on the hunt, gruesomely tearing apart their helpless prey with tooth and claw.

Real life: Gingerly picking the giblet packet out of a Thanksgiving turkey and washing my hands with fire.

*examines second test turkey with multiple instruments*
Hm...12.33 lbs for 3 hours at 165C, autopsy indicates giblets removed, hollow cavity, internal temperate 85C...I think it's dead.

Nurse, fetch a knife and fork. And some Stove Top.

This took me a second because around here we just have mulberry bushes.

So in December of 1997, two movies of personal interest to me were released a week apart, giving me the opportunity for my own private Barbenheimer. Afterwards, of course, I had an idea for a Mashup.

The story is called "An American Werewolf on the Titanic."

I'm free! I'm free!

*closes thirty-six browser tabs as if unlocking shackles and restraints*

The rough draft is done! It's in the bag! I can live again!

If I ever decide to write historical fiction again, would one of you kindly hit me with something heavy? It's been a rough month.

@stephenking.bsky.social's earliest books were about a telekinetic, a vampire, a psychic, a prophet, a pyrokinetic, a demonic dog, a sentient car, a necromancer, and a werewolf.

To him, those are horror stories. To me, that's basically poker night.

Or a hell of a D&D party.

Or a superhero team.

"Black Bear" isn't as interesting as you'd think in this context...
Your GI JOE name is the color of your shirt followed by your first pet's name.

GO.

If you see this QTP with a game that released the year you were born.

Yup..

I have a turkey in the oven. No, I didn't get the week wrong.

It's a practice turkey.

Mom's been doing Thanksgiving for fifty years, so I offered to cater this time. Only I never roasted a turkey before, so I've got one in the oven now. We'll see how it goes.

Well, I've finally managed to drag my current in-progress within grapefruit-throwing distance of the finish line. Took about four months, which is a painfully long time for a rough draft; I'm clearly going to have to overhaul my technique.

Title announcement coming soon.

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

This week's Patreon brings the second part of "Junkyard Dog," as the callous merchant Elsefus, feeling cheated after dealing with the Dog, returns to square the deal and reclaim his "property" - with violence if necessary.

Going through my record collection.

Okay, I can KIND of understand how I ended up with two copies of Born to Run, but I need someone to answer for this.

I keep hearing about terrible behavior from companies I never use. "Join the boycott! Don't cross the picket line!" ...Okay, no problem there.

Starbucks? I don't drink coffee.

Hobby Lobby? Closest one is 100 miles away.

Chick-Fil-A? Never even seen one.

Easiest boycotts ever.

It's 106 miles to the Vatican. We got a full tank of holy water, half a pack o' wafers, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

I know there have probably been 200 versions of that gag since this picture surfaced, so I rushed to get mine in before I saw any others.
What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?

It's the Pope in 1982.
