Tomorrows John Durkan field is quite exceptional. Can’t remember the last time there was such a stacked field for an early season race. Winners of the Ryanair, Cheltenham Gold Cup, two Grand Nationals, Browns Advisory, Punchestown Gold Cup and Aintree Bowl.

A sport I used to love as a young man has become a celebrity reality TV show. Very sad #Boxing

Decent ground at Ascot tomorrow yet only 2 races can field 3 places for betting purposes. It’s killing the game for ordinary punters and racegoers. Urgent action required, someone needs to take an axe to the fixture list.

The hypocrisy of betting and gaming companies, while at the same time campaigning against the UK governments proposed tax rises. taxpolicy.org.uk/2025/11/18/s...
Betting on tax avoidance - is Sky Bet avoiding £55m tax per year?
ITV News has just published an investigation: gambling company Sky Bet has migrated its business to Malta to avoid around £55m of tax each year. We provided technical support for the investigation…

Knickerbockerglory a non-runner in Greatwood “due to going”. All his win form on soft or heavy. Official going this morning soft. Go figure.

Happy Mackeson Gold Cup day. Don’t think low sun is going to be a problem today. Have a good one.

One soggy day at Cheltenham. A reasonable day on the punting front.
Looking ahead to the Champion hurdle, this season looks a great opportunity for something to come off the flat and do an Alderbrook. To say it’s a mediocre betting heat is an understatement.

These global betting giants are no different to the tech bros. $14 billion in revenue is never enough.

Jingko Blue looks interesting in the 3m handicap hurdle Saturday, if allowed to take his chance. Completely unexposed in a substandard looking renewal.

There are people on the right of politics who don’t believe that a publicly funded broadcaster like BBC should exist. That’s the bottom line, and I’m no fan of Tim Davie. Attack at every opportunity.

Can’t see how a merger of ITV and Sky would be good for racing.
TBH I can’t see an upside for consumers full stop.

The hypocrisy from the big names who sold out to Saudi backed LIV golf tour as it move from 54 holes to traditional 72 holes in 2026.
“It’s not about the money, it’s about more quality time with family” has changed to “it’s the next logical step that strengthens competition”
Na, it was the money.

Entries for first G1s of the season in a few weeks time.

11 in the Morgiana, 7 trained by Willie.
21 in the John Durkan, 12 trained by Willie.
Not having a dig at the master trainer but this is not a good look for jump racing.
