College administrations are notoriously conservative and will not protect us, so we must protect ourselves.

Keep your grading clear and consistent, document everything, and reach out to fellow faculty and queer teachers regularly for emotional and practical support while handling this onslaught.

Folks in my department are trained for this kind of thing and we use these instances as teaching moments and a chance to educate those pressing propaganda out of their ignorance.

But the tactics are real, cruelty, obfuscation and lies are the point, and this will only escalate going forward.

This is a very real, tangible threat to me and other queer teachers and is active in my own classes right now.

I’ve had multiple folks, clearly groomed with responses, submit work or say things publicly that were inflammatory in order to provoke a heated faculty response that could be pounced on
