Ooh I love questions like this. The big silhouette + short tail makes me think probably Red-tailed Hawks, especially because they are fairly common. Another key sign is their front is mostly white with sort of a belt of brown streaks across their middle

I attended a dharma talk once where the Zen teacher said that a moment of awakening is just the 7th consciousness being seen from/as the 8th consciousness. Which I sort of vaguely understand conceptually but is hard to embody.
