Completely fair! I can see how that would be disappointing. I do love the characters in LOTR, but the Silmarillion characters have managed to win the chief place in my heart. It seems we have the same problem, but in the opposite order!

That’s so interesting! I read the Silmarillion first, and found the histories and the stories of the War of the Jewels so fascinating and gripping. I had trouble with Fellowship until book 2 started!

I totally agree!! Rogue and so many other x-men, like Pyro, have great AIDs allegory storylines that work because they’re not just superheroes, they have physical limitations that greatly impact them and their personal relationships.
