There’s little time left to submit a poster for Toward a Science of Consciousness (deadline: Nov 25), and I’m still weighing desire, logistics, and strategy. Should I? And is it the right venue to discuss #enactive #consciousness as a PhD student? 🤔

Yesterday evening I had a chance to visit a floristry exhibition inspired by Downton Abbey and then attended a charity fashion show featuring various brands (Hugo Boss, Talbot, Queenvinia, Wolford) and organised by The Lenny Zakim Fund. #Boston #fashion

Thank you @mindandlife.bsky.social for organizing the inspiring Mind & Life Workshop: “Analyzing Text Data with Large Language Models for Contemplative Research”, hosted by Dr.Daniel Low.

It definitely expanded my understanding of how I can use LLMs in my future research #ai #LLM #Research

This weekend I enjoyed the sunny fall days in Boston, admiring the colors of nature…

Yesterday I attended an #IntersexAwarenessDay event organized by intersex activist Esther Leidolf, who has MRKH (Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser)

We watched the film Every Body and then and discussed ongoing medicalization and lack of protections for #intersex people in MA/Boston.

When I look at this picture/meme, I think that my greatest research skill is presence in stillness: being silent and attentive enough for experience to reveal its own structure.

And what is it about your “best research skill”? #AcademicSky #PhDStudent #research

Just finished Georgiann Davis @georgianndavis.bsky.social ’s “Five Star White Trash: A Memoir of Fraud and Family.”

An honest, and deeply human story about class, race, gender & myth of the “American Dream.”

Davis writes about growing up working-class, being #intersex and queer in the U.S.

This time my new Sunday one-day trip was in Ipswich (MA). It is a small, charming town about an hour north of Boston by commuter train.

Dr. Ciaunica @annaciaunica.bsky.social - “Mortal Bodies and Immortal Minds in Biological and Artificial Systems: What Dennett Taught Us,” - on #embodiment of #AI, what differentiates living organisms and artificial systems.

“When does the body know without our knowing? #Consiousness

Provocative questions from David Chalmers @davidchalmers.bsky.social on “Dan Dennett Teach Us About Large Language Models”

Whether LLMs could ever be people: conscious & agential? Current systems likely not. Future ones - maybe. But even if possible, should we create #AI persons?

“What did your body think before you got your brain?” by @drmichaellevin.bsky.social, from his talk Kinds of Minds: Philosophy and Science Meet in the Study of Diverse Intelligence at Tufts University.

This question about cognition beyond neurons made me reflect on infant #consciousness & death.

I have just arrived at a symposium on Artificial Intelligence and #Consciousness dedicated to Daniel Dennett at Tufts University (Boston, MA).

Looking forward to engaging with the ongoing debates his work continues to inspire about #AI

Today I attended the 2nd session of the #Micro-Phenomenology Laboratory with Claire Petitmengin.

We explored the experiential dynamics of evocation via self-interviewing. I observed an authentic process of #embodiedcognition process: how my nervous system enacts the body and constructs meaning.

On Sat 9/26 I attended the Sloan–Menninger–Shevrin Award Ceremony online, organized by the #Neuropsychoanalysis Association.
Three fantastic talks on how cognitive neuroscience and #memory studies informs therapeutic care by Thomas Rabeyron, Pierre Magistretti, and Cristina Alberini. 🧠🤝

A couple of days ago I watched #ScavengersReign. It’s astunning #sci-fi animation on posthuman life.

It echoes Katherine Hayles (From Bacteria to AI): cognition as a spectrum from microbes to machines. Vesta + Levi embody this continuum of intelligence as relationship, not a human monopoly.

Today I attended the first MIT #Consciousness Club talk: Matthias Michel @matthiasmichel.bsky.social gave a fascinating presentation on Sensory Horizons and the Evolution of Visual Consciousness. Read more:

A couple of days ago, I & my boyfriend visited the Boston Lights at Franklin Park Zoo. I was really impressed by the special installations, which reminded me of a fantastic psychedelic jungle planet or something out of Alice in Wonderland. #bostonlights

Reading #posthumanism helps me reflect on my own story as intersex, queer, and a migrant, and how these lives already exceed binaries. Posthumanism shows that “the human” has never been one, but many. As Ferrando adds: “We are one and many, diversity and unity, beyond any dualities” (2024, p.5).

Today I spent a wonderful last summer day on the beach in Manchester-by-the-Sea. At the end of my trip, I met a Ukrainian guy with a Russian balalaika. A small but meaningful moment when Ukrainian and Russian can meet and talk about something light, without war, trauma, or pain, a glimpse of hope ✨

Today I visited the educational “Glass Flowers” exhibition at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. The Blaschka father-and-son team crafted this unique collection of botanical models entirely from glass between 1886 through 1936. The details are so precise, it’s hard to believe they’re not real!🌸

As part of my dissertation, I conducted a self-interview & body mapping. It felt like a confession especially when revisiting early years of migration & intersex experience. A forthcoming micro-phenomenological interview will be led by a colleague from the #Enactive Experience Research study group

Plus Dr. Petra Sussner, who helped legally proofread the “Intersex Refugees & Asylum Seekers Toolkit,” noted that LGBTQ and Intersex are Western concepts. Migrants from non-Western countries often lack this self-knowledge and typically rely on medical diagnoses for intersex issues.

I understand the question of terminology is very complicated in the intersex community. Anyway a lot of intersex activists use “variation of sex characteristics”. For example, such intersex writers/activists as Adeline Berry, Morgan Carpenter and Sean Saifa Wall use VSC in this book (2025).
