Hochul started 2025 by shelving cap & invest and promising to issue emissions reporting rules alone.

As the year ends, it’s safe to say she’s stuck to that program. The emissions rules are done but she’s still fighting NY’s climate law, punting a cap & invest style program til maybe 2027? Latest:

Out here fighting for water breaks for farmers and other outdoor and indoor human beings working out in this extreme heat. No federal protections exist on that.
In fact, some states made it illegal for local governments to create their own heat safety rules.

NYS legislature PASSED S8417/A8888, ending an old law requiring all gas customers to subsidize new gas hookups, so halting residential gas expansion in NYS and saving ratepayers $200 million/yr.

We just won our first victory against this Trump administration! USDA has agreed to restore climate data it had removed, a move we challenged on behalf of farmers who depend on this info. This win proves the law is a powerful tool against the administration’s anti-science, industry-appeasing agenda.
