Okay, prepare to judge: I had never heard of Dame Jilly Cooper until Rishi Sunak mentioned he was a fan in a 2023 interview.

With her passing at 88, and her iconic novel Rivals making a splash on Disney+ in 2024, it feels like the universe is screaming at me to catch up!
