I love writing about old telly for @shindigmagazine.bsky.social, and the new issue has my feature about 'Object Z', the obscure but ripping 1965 sci-fi serial now released on Blu-ray by the BFI. A pre-Grace Brothers Trevor Bannister going all square-jawed and heroic.
Found in an antiques shop on Saturday. It had a sticker underneath that said "Saucy 1970s ornament".

Australian artist Roy Ananda has created a collage of diagrams that he calls The Apparitionist. I expressed my concern that he was dabbling with occult forces, but the exhibition has gone ahead. My letter of warning is in the foyer, though. Pics: Sam Roberts.

Anyone free on actual Halloween night? Come to Whitby, I'll guide you gently through memories of 1970s/80s Halloweens ("The sky is blue, the grass is green") and there'll be music, dressing up, sweets etc. I might even do the "Witches of Halloween" song from 'Words and Pictures'. A fiver. A FIVER!

Tonight! Goole Library at 7pm! Come and join me for a gentle evening of Haunted Generation strangeness - I'll even read you some of the Fighting Fantasy book I wrote when I was 11. It's only £7 on the door, and I'm really excited because I've never been to Goole before.
