8) Pandemic Legacy. Started the successful "legacy" trend.

3) Caylus. One of the earliest worker placement games.

4) Through the Ages. Arguably the game that attained the holy grail of "civ lite" in the form of a board game playable in 2 hours or less.

5) Mage Knight. No justification here, I just really freaking love Mage Knight.

2) Dominion. Arguably invented the "deck-building" mechanic, which had far-reaching consequences beyond board gaming (notably leading to deck-building roguelike Dream Quest, which led to Slay the Spire, which led to about a billion other games)

Oh boy, how is one to choose! Not limited to these and in no particular order:

1) Puerto Rico. Longtime #1 game on BGG, one of the earliest examples of a game whose outcome depends entirely on skill, and revolutionary for its time in the way it handled what a player's "turn" is
