Just out in Environmental Biology of Fishes! This paper is something to be proud of, we spent an incredible amount of time at some of Manitoba’s best lake trout fisheries.

What are the effects of tagging on fishes? 🐟

Our review + meta-analysis explores intracoelomic tagging effects in fishes. We summarize the existing literature and examine the 2% rule using evidence from a broad representation of all published studies.

Just came across this method from 1970: researchers used a periscope-like device frozen into the ice to watch fish under the surface. Such a clever way to study winter ecosystems! 🐟❄️ From Magnuson & Karlen (1970).

This study identified factors that affect behaviour and physiology of lake trout during catch-and-release angling. These insights may be used to develop context-specific best practices for angling.
