Corner lashes really tangling today. Every blink a tousle. Odds on lowers which is surprising but I love an underdog story.

Poems are dangerous. If that sounds hyperbolic, take a stab at writing the one that scares you. Worse yet, where will you put it?

Writers are inhaling their turbulence and repackaging it as arrows. How neatly defiant. Language has them looking so tired & fragile. Soggy flannel scarecrows with spilling straw guts. You can put lipstick on them.
We are the scary lot.
Writers, steady on.

JMWW opens tomorrow 10/1 for hybrid & beyond-genre submissions.

Here’s my craft essay on the subject
bradley-david.com
another Walter Pavlich excerpt

“…eyes that don't
go through a person but go
in and stay there, feeling
their way unobtrusively around
a sadness, or, recognizing pain, glancing it like two ants
interrupted by each other.”
Like a thumbnail with one expression, with eyes that don't go through a person but go in and stay there, feeling their way unobtrusively around a sadness, or, recognizing pain, glancing it like two ants interrupted by each other.

It is the face of a clock with its hands in its ears. And its time is the beginning and end of any flower

Temperature of such a face: tapwater over a dead wrist; or someone's hair just before they awaken after a long sleep.

You would not know where to kiss this face unless you married it

Who’s still accepting poetry subs for autumn melancholia synced with autocracy-induced dysthymia?

A graphic announcing Blackbird’s “Call for Submissions: Video Essays & Sound-Based Literature.” Against a turquoise background, an orange vintage television shows the Blackbird logo while another TV sits beside it. A small illustrated figure leans toward a giant ear perched on the second TV. A turquoise graphic with black text that reads, “The video essays we admire most employ language, image, and sound with equal craftsmanship and collective vision.” Above the text are two small image icons, and below are two illustrated ear icons with sound waves. A turquoise graphic with black text that reads, “Sound-based literature is an original piece of writing that pairs a recorded voiceover with a musical composition or sound design score.” Above the text is a megaphone icon, and below is an open book icon. A turquoise graphic with black text that reads, “Read more here: https://blackbird.submittable.com/submit Or click ‘Submit to Blackbird’ at the link in our bio!” Centered above and below the text are illustrations of books and the Blackbird logo.

My long hair breaks at the end like Lisa Murkowski. Falls apart like a Manhattan prosecutor’s case. Splits like Ted Cruz. What are your recommendations for a daily leave-in defense/repair/conditioner? Something that can withstand heat like Donald’s wrist spackle.

Truly tho I need a spray.

Prepping a knock-off of Portland's plant-based Mississippi bowls. Rice, not-beef, coleslaw, green onions, ranch, bbq, @ranchogordo.bsky.social yellow eye beans, side of garden amaranth. I remember 2010 food trucks & miserable midnight shift at crisis call center. I ❤️ PDX
