Dean had finished a fading third in a primary he’d expected to win. His loss in NH a week later, as a Vermonter to Kerry of Massachusetts, meaning NH was long familiar with both, can’t fairly be attributed to the scream, he’d actually gained that week. Lame coverage, yes, but he was done anyway.

So employers started offering the worst bullshit health plans, those old supplemental things like AFLAC that were without any value at all on their own, and that were barely better than setting out a bowl of aspirin on the break room at work.
