This is bad, and depending on how this is implemented (as most politicians don't have a fucking clue, hence this article), it could mean a hamstringing of any tech companies...or a complete implosion of all encryption in the UK.

Because they've already tried to ban encryption before.

There is currently a new push to try to get a policy resulting in a two tiered approach to privacy and human rights in Brussels, Called ‘Article 4’. Which is an even more underhanded and destructive legislative then any of the original ChatControl proposals, due to not only does it want to force apps like Whatsapp, Signal and the like to scan their users messages. Which will destroy those apps promises of end-to-end encryption. They also want people to present their ID or face for scanning, to make sure they are not under the age of 16. This will also apply to Video games as well. This is a huge breach against people's privacy. This two-tiered policy is a violation against peoples human rights, where the only ones that will not be affected are the military, police and government officials, Such as the previous Denmark politician Sass Larsen who have one of the largest cases of CSAM in Europe, but got away with only four months of jail and receives early retirement pension from the Danish Parliament after that scandal. Please vote against this policy, thank you for reading.

This type of legislation would be a nightmare if it passes, though I have to say, a rare form of nightmare that goes both ways.

Imagine the amount of mental damage that could be dealt at lightning speeds by understanding how to prompt their AI to create irrelevant reports.

No really, imagine it.
2. TOTAL SURVEILLANCE OF TEXT CHATS: A “DIGITAL WITCH HUNT” The supposedly voluntary “Chat Control” goes far beyond the previously discussed scanning of photos, videos, and links. Now, algorithms and AI can be used to mass-scan the private chat texts and metadata of all citizens for suspicious keywords and signals. “No AI can reliably distinguish between a flirt, sarcasm, and criminal ‘grooming’,” explains Breyer. “Imagine your phone scanning every conversation with your partner, your daughter, your therapist and leaking it just because the word ‘love’ or ‘meet’ appears somewhere. This is not child protection – this is a digital witch hunt. The result will be a flood of false positives, placing innocent citizens under general suspicion and exposing masses of private, even intimate, chats and photos to strangers.” Under the current voluntary “Chat Control 1.0” scanning scheme, German federal police (BKA) already warn that around 50% of all reports are criminally irrelevant, equating to tens of thousands of leaked legal chats per year.
