I like video games. He/Him. Programmer.
I’m just saying that instructors that believe the only way to teach is to throw you head first into documentation aren’t exactly up to speed with modern teaching. My specialty at the moment is with beginner-intermediate level CS students, and that ideology would not fly with my level students.

…which isn’t even how the real world works when you get a CS job. The whole “you learn everything you need to on the first week” is too true, but the degree is supposed to stand for the belief that you are flexible and a problem solver, which not all instructors believe is enough unfortunately.

Sorry to hear about all of this, when I had classes like those I always chucked it up to professors who were never actually students. Those that learned programming as it was being written are (in my experience) typically the worst types of teachers because they want to teach how they learned…

…that the material I was provided can be a time waster. Since this is my first semester I feel like I should be trying to take it easier, but so far I feel like I’ve been welcoming, though I will admit there’s way too much content (even if they really only need to follow step by step instructions).

Dang that sucks. I just started teaching CS at the college level (smaller class sizes ~20) after going through three different schools taking CS classes, so I’d love to hear some gripes! I never was physically at a uni so I don’t have as much experience, though I teach online and fear…

One thing that’s kinda been ticking me off recently and it’s not just them, but I’ve been trying to cut down on plastics. While I accept (and to an extent appreciate) the game case is plastic, I don’t think the outer plastic wrap on games is doing that much. I’d rather paper wrap if anything!

I will always love it for giving full voice acting during supports and that vocal credits theme is a top 5 FE song for me

Thinking about it as a programmer, it wouldn’t be that easy. You can pick up your finger and place it somewhere else on the screen, but with a mouse it needs to move from point A to point B, and can’t just teleport (unless it was originally programmed to do so)

I have yet to find a place for the grimlin to go alone, but she and may have a nice place on my laptop. I bought these (and a handful of others from the redbubble store) years ago

I’m sure Monolith helped, but it was a US studio that is credited as the developers, they only make licensed racing games now, Monster Games. They also did DKCR3D and the Excite Truck/Bots duology on Wii!

To draw the comparison to FE, intelligent systems is a second party studio, which means that they need to make and release games to get a paycheck, unlike the Zelda team who would get a paycheck either way. A “big” FE game can mean a lot for a comparatively smaller studio like IS.

One thing that is important to note is that the arms team shares leadership and staff with the Mario Kart team. Internal staff is shockingly limited out of context because of how many games they outsource and publish from external developers.

Woah I’ve seen that XL so many times but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the back of it, that’s so much more sick than the front imo
