Raising Keynes
@bravenewworld2024.bsky.social
A father, ally, optimist/cynic who desperately wants to figure out how we can move our country/world to be kindler, gentler, and more equitable.
So confused. I’ve known many a Pomeranian that didn’t have 2 brain cells to rub together. What exactly qualifies a pupper as special needs?

Please then vote Schumer out as Minority Leader. Or else this is just all talk. Put your words into action.

Disagree. If you think that getting them to vote AGAIN to show their willingness to do this, you’ve lost the plot. We had leverage, we had support, we had enthusiasm, and we just chucked it out the window and look incredibly weak in the process.

If there is truth in this, the party and country are truly doomed.

Even if that agreement was written in blood; so what? It will never go anywhere. The only viable outcome was an agreement to extend the ACA supports. Their cowardice is inexcusable.

I have a long frigging memory and I hope each and every one of their constituents does also.

Your colleagues betrayed us. I really want to understand their motivations when their constituents clearly supported fighting. All the gains of Tuesday are being lost because of this unmitigated failure.

While I agree with everything he said, I think we have to stop using Bernie as the standard bearer. He is seen as an outlier. I expect that a large swath of Ds (even senators) are enraged by this capitulation and Ds need to show that those 8 senators betrayed the party and the American people.

BS. The action of the abhorrent 8 was a betrayal of the people. We had a simple message “they want to destroy the ACA and Medicaid to pay the rich”and the polls showed there was support. Now we look no better than the Rs AND we’re weak. Despicable.

Your premise is correct. Your conclusion is hugely flawed.

It’s not like they have actually agreed to do anything. All they agreed was to have a vote on the ACA funding extension, knowing full well it will fail. So these idiots are giving up all of their leverage for a useless gesture. Needless to say, I am outraged.

The fact that you need to try and create an economic argument for what should be an obvious moral choice is saddening.
