It was 1983, and Helms wanted to make sure that MLK Day wouldn’t become a national holiday. The recordings were his “proof” that King’s image was fraudulent.

In general I avoid the headline criticism, but it seems necessary now. People don't seem to understand the reality of what is happening here.

The media needs to stop treating this as a "flurry of activity." It's just bullshit--and no ordinary American should stand for it.
