This was a great episode of @pragmaticengineer.com

There’s ~4 Billion Linux devices

40M lines in the Linux kernel and a typical server uses 1.5M lines

Android has ~300 out of tree drivers

1/2 of all kernel bugs would be prevented with rust

I believe in this so hard

I also believe in the converse: if you know a little stuff and are talking to someone who knows a lot about that stuff, you should also make a real effort to take the opportunity to learn more from them!
if you know a lot of stuff i think it is your moral duty to be kind and excited when people learn stuff for the first time. the world is full of stuff we don't know about, don't be mean

AI agents aren't magic. There is a reason the code we write today doesn't scrape HTML pages and uses APIs instead. AI agents are no different. Agents still need an API to interact with and permission to do so. Sure, they can generate a client, then guess what to do next, but good luck with that.
Okay, to put it concisely, what changes with an AI agent is that it is a tool that is more flexible at solving unexpected problems. For example, the airline booking example in your other thread: the AI does not care if an airline recently redesigned their website and all the fields have changed

Not lost on me that it's nonprofit tech, app.watchduty.org, showing up & actually working in the midst of the LA fires (donate to them!)

Meanwhile platforms fail to surface key news, vital info is paywalled...

As I've been saying, we need a new tech paradigm, yesterday!

Some people label things they don't understand as being too complex. When you ask them what they are doing instead, their answers are often as complex, with one major difference. They understand it.
