Sometimes, a single reaction isn't enough.

@seanthomason.bsky.social @conorlastowka.bsky.social owka.bsky.social As a couple of San Diego Chicken experts, I immediately thought of you two when I saw this while watching some old rugby league games from Australia. Turns out ol' SD *wasn't* the original...

You're talking about the president aren't you?

One guy did stuff like make characters who's goal was to be a leather tanner. Not even *the worlds greatest* leather tanner, or even as part of a "I just want to tan my damn leather, and the bastards keep pulling me back in" repeated beat/joke. But being a fighter and his goal was wanting a... job.

Do you run into people who won't take chances or be heroic or motivated *in game*? In my last group this was a repeated theme. It was mind boggling. Sure, i want my pc to survive, but i also wanna do cool stuff, and this would happen despite "session zero"... I could never get them over that.

This a really good question. As a gm, I've changed. I used to map out a story I wanted to tell, so definitely more the first, but as I've grown older and away from systems like D&D (heavily prescriptive systems) I tend to want to explore themes and see how people react.

"No, I'm afraid you're mistaken - 'THAC0 Thursday' isn't a clever way to sell Mexican food later in the week. Anyway, here's 3d6, roll 6 stats..."

I've found that to be the exact opposite of my experience with Moon Pies.

But I am happy for you. 🙂

You'd better keep A People's History of the United States hidden or you will never hear the end of it.

@systemmastery.bsky.social @gurglespasm.bsky.social Apparently I pre-ordered one in March back when it first came available and then again a few weeks ago when you mentioned the reprint of the cocktail book was available for pre-order. 😄

Well, one to share with a friend, I guess!

This isn't meant at all to be judgmental - I grew up in a retirement community north of Tampa, & I think in 2002 we went to Walmart as part of a Werewolf LARP cuz it was the only thing open that late. (Nothing to be proud of)

But your buddy's comedy style may have been... a bit too urine focused?

Truly, Chuck is a prophet of our times.

@gurglespasm.bsky.social I'd like to recommend 1986's F/X for Movie Mastery www.imdb.com/title/tt0089...

Starring Bryan Brown and Brian Dennehy! They share *slightly* less screen time than Pacino and De Niro in Heat. It's not the usual dreck most people submit. It's just... real 80s cheese.
F/X (1986) ⭐ 6.7 | Action, Thriller
