How do I know that transness is a thing? J is a biological girl. J loves my son. J could simply dress masc and date my son and go about their life. But he CAN'T. He is a boy in the depths of their being. NO ONE would sign up for the abuse, hate, and fear they face bc read a book or to win sports.
My son's boyfriend is a trans man. They are 21 yro. Came out as trans in middle school. Lived with us this summer when home got too hard. They have an apartment with my other son now. He loves my son and I love him for it. I do fear for them.

So on Epstein, the Democratic position should be "Trump should resign." If you are a Democratic elected, practice saying "We demand the president's resignation" in front of a mirror as many times as it takes until the dry-heaving that comes from having a phobia about actually doing politics passes.

"Schumer, who does not believe in actually opposing Trump with his power as Senate Minority Leader, had no intention of winning: he merely wanted to give Democrats an issue to campaign on against Republicans."
Short version:

Trump: I'm dismantling the Constitution, building a paramilitary fascist army loyal only to me, blowing up the US economy for my billionaire cronies, and destroying the planet.

Schumer: Okay, but you have to extend subsidies for corporate health care

Trump: No

Schumer: Okay

Dems applauding the Schumer-led betrayal appear to think it was better to vote for the unnecessary deaths of a projected 50,000 uninsured Americans then to have allowed SNAP payments to be fully restored this week by the courts.

This is a victory for the Democratic Party?

I've been reposting everyone replying to this post with their own ACA (and sometimes employer!) price hikes. Feel free to add yours. There is some comfort in knowing you aren't alone and knowing we'll all be voting on this issue in a year.

Chuck Schumer should be chucked out. #chuckchuck
My ACA current plan is going from $385/mo to $821/mo.

You'll get your vote Dick. It will fail. They will lie to people about greedy insurance giveaways. No one even talking about restoring Medicaid bc gave up fight for that. Trump will cut everyone some token check with his name on it to buy off the fury.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Third Wayer Godfather Joe Lieberman cost us single payer and we got ACA subsidies instead Now, Third Wayers kneecapped the ACA subsidies. Time to confront Third Wayers with their destruction of healthcare for a generation.
Eight Senate Democratic Caucus members broke ranks Sunday and voted to advance a deal to reopen the government.

There are few obvious threads connecting the group who broke the partisan impasse this time.

I keep thinking about the Nevada cancer survivor whose subsidies expire Dec 31.

$150/month premium → $680/month.

While Cortez Masto voted to abandon her, then voted $895B for Pentagon.

This is what corporate capture looks like in practice.

The language gives it away too:

"Overplaying our hand" = surrender
"Waiting won't help" = accept defeat
"Pragmatic" = whatever donors want
"Not perfect but..." = voting against you

It's not individual weakness. It's institutional training.
