bring back shame, combat vice signaling
we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

Pointing out (because when else would I get to show off this research) that about 533 U.S.–produced features, from both major studios and independents, were released into theaters in 1957. In 2017, there were 131 given wide release, including independents. It's astounding how output has shrunk.

Two independent studies found that AI chatbots were better at persuading voters than political ads. The most persuasive bots also lied the most. This is something that humans working in psyops have known for decades. AI is psyops at scale. www.technologyreview.com/2025/12/04/1...

Gotta give it to Gene Wolfe. The man can describe a scene so ornately yet so also make it so approachable and lived-in feeling.

Gorgeous eruption that has become a halo CME on its way to Earth (likely arriving on December 9). Quite strong shock, given that proton flux has started to rise.
