We recently visited Glenthorne Guest House and Conference Centre in beautiful Grasmere. Run as a Quaker Charity but open to all. Glenthorne is a place where you would not feel alone if you come on your own. Very special atmosphere & stunning walks right from the door. 2026 programme now!

Plenty of cyclists and walkers visited our Meeting House during annual Rise and Stride event In aid of Churches Trust. Great outreach & a stark contrast with troubling events in London on the same day.

Armed Forces Day is on Sat, 28th June. Quakers hold a Testimony to peace and all that makes for peace. We respect the courage of our armed forces & desire to do whatever may be possible to keep them from harm. We are concerned at the manner in which AFD is widely presented as family entertainment.

We are not sure how the flowers ended up on our sundial in the meeting house garden but they do seem to symbolise hope and peace.
