Movie Monday - Buster Keaton’s “Stone Face” was far more mobile in the Comique days, and 1917’s “Oh Doctor!” is an especially good example of that! Buster goes through a whole range of emotions at the hands of Roscoe Arbuckle, his doctor father.

This Day in Buster…December 7, 1935
"La Fiesta de Santa Barbara" is released by MGM. Buster Keaton is brought to tears by the Garland Sisters’ performance of “La Cucaracha” - you might recognize a 13-year-old Judy in her final on-screen performance with the trio.

Buster Keaton with The Flying Escalantes - pals from the Vaudeville circuit - assisting on escaping with the girl next-door, Virginia Fox. “Neighbors” has its premiere in Atlanta, going on general release in January 1921.

The North Adams Transcript reports, “Any picture in which Keaton appears is sure to procure a “laugh a minute,” but in “The Playhouse” Buster has outdone himself. It is chockful of side-splitting situations and gags."

Movie Monday - Buster Keaton and Joe Roberts engage in the thrill of the chase in “The Blacksmith,” 1922. This scene, rediscovered in 2013, was filmed by Buster after he was unhappy with the original - for all these years, we’d been watching the version he didn’t like!

“The Paleface,” 1921 may not have aged well in terms of its portrayal of indigenous Americans, however the story sees the tribe triumph over greedy oil sharks who aim to steal their land at a time when this was still common practice by the US Government.

“The Boat” has its general release. The film is just one of the instances of the use of the “Damfino” gag, the name of the boat and the name we fans have adopted to describe ourselves. Why? Damfino!
