I wasn’t prepared for the tears in my eyes as I walked up to a protest in a suburb of Chicago. The collective spirit of everyone, the cheering and honking. The dogs, the kids. It was a peace fest. Sure, we are angry but yesterday we were buoyed by each other and the hope for better times ahead.

I didn’t think of this myself, saw it on BlueSky but couldn’t help myself. I was going to Office Depot anyway to get paperclips and then to the grocery store for bread.

I had to buy this for the 2nd time in my life. First time vinyl and now CD because I absolutely need one of the tracks for my 1st gig since the pandemic. Coming out of retirement 😂 DJ Chaka T’s Numinous Radio @ Rodan in Chicago playing before and after the Last Fridays Jazz Quartet. This Friday.
Escaped from the chaos to a strawberry farm and for 15 mins all I could think about is finding the little red treasures under the leaves. I could have picked for another 45 mins but it was too hot for my friends who were waiting in the car. Grateful for the respite.

Mmmm. Beef cheeks. My first time preparing. I braised them last night in some local farm stand tomatoes that I roasted and froze last summer. A little garlic, red organic carrots & onion. A little stock and some sheep’s milk pecorino on top!

Pulled out some samples I did a few years ago, the 1st one is giving me Canadian vibes ❤️ I grew up outside of Detroit, the tunnel, Bozo and a younger drinking age, always welcoming tourists. I ❤️ 🇨🇦
