New Mexico is spending $30million to cover SNAP benefits for 10 days. Governor MLG to the rescue, again!

I don't love everything she's done in office but if she ran for president I'd vote for her. Unlike *some* dem govs she's stood up for transpeople & is brave enough to try difficult things.

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

New in PN: Lindsey Halligan's humiliation continues apace

"After discovering — too late! — that you have to tell reporters beforehand if you want conversations to be off the record, Halligan now finds herself attempting to prosecute 2 high profile cases on the 'rocket docket.' It’s not going well."

Since the so-called "ceasefire" started, Israel has dropped 153 tons of bombs on Gaza, killing 97 civilians.

By comparison, Russia has dropped 300-400 tons of bombs in Ukraine, killing 20-30 civilians.

That means the IDF has dropped nearly 1/2 as many bombs as Russia killing 3-5 times as many.
