Been playing a lot of Fall Festival, the new, small expansion to @keymastergames.bsky.social’s excellent Harvest. It’s a great, subtle addition to the game that ends up bigger in impact than expected. It doesn’t change up the nature of the game, but certainly leans in sharply. #boardgames

And thus #silksong is completed. What a game. Not flawless, but easily the best video gaming experience I’ve had this year. Thank you @teamcherry.bsky.social!

Honor’s end just launched, and it’s one of the most nuanced spins on deckbuilding I’ve played in a while. Paired with cooperative campaigning and it’s gonna make a lot of #boardgames fans happy.

Homie is not adjusting well to the cone of shame. But at least he won’t be making any puppies.

Really solid action system that makes it a more accessible tactical adventure game than the likes of Gloomhaven, though individual actions feel less grand and thematic. Continuing to enjoy it and will finish out the campaign but 10 games in and I’m eager for the wrap up.

I think I overall prefer Hollow Knight’s OST but the choral chamber’s track in Silk Song is probably my favorite piece of VGM in the last decade. youtu.be/zKsT17-UnyM?...

First play of the new iv_studio joint, Honor’s End. A nice twist to cooperative deck building which puts more emphasis on interesting turns and leaning into “builds” throughout a game, though the enemy / opposition to overcome is a little stiff, if serviceable. Looking forward to more!

Oh Victarian, off to bind him some dragons. Haven’t thought of Hand of the King in years but it’s a fun one.

Sometimes we like to stretch a bit beyond our typical review and cover a classic, seeing if we can incorporate some history. Super proud of how this review and retrospective of Yokohama came out. #boardgames

Ewww gross, I gotta do archiving and data management. My least favorite biannual task of content creation.

Got a chance to play Sniper Elite last night, once as the hunters, once as the sniper. It’s a pliable & snappy system making a pretty great blend of tactical combat and hidden movement, even if the modern warfare aesthetic has never really done anything for me. #boardgames @djackthompson.bsky.social

It’s the best place to be, glad to see a familiar face!

This week we’re working on coverage for Azure & Moytura, two cool new games from @bitewinggames.bsky.social launching next week. Both proved fun in some surprising ways, catching me off guard with the accelerating rhythm with low overhead, and of course their usual fantastic production. #boardgames

Had my first plays of @officedoggames.bsky.social’ new joint The Hobbit: There & Back Again. It’s beautifully packaged and gives some nice variety with the limited components, though given the production I expected a bit more. Still, a very nice, efficient design as one can expect from Knizia.

Oh shit, only fitting that after playing tons of games of Regicide in Germany (including on the way back) that we’d have legacy waiting for us upon returning home. Can’t think of a game I’m more excited to dive into in this back half of 2025.

So long Germany! It’s been a wonderful trip full of food, games and family!

Choco Leibniz & board games, could things get anymore German around here?
