The red dress swept the pavement like it was blessed by it. Fluttering freely at her back as she gracefully made an entrance up the steps. Everything about her was intoxicating. Her voice, even more dreamy. Whether you'd seen her for the first time or many times before, her impressions always felt like the first time. Queen Rhaelle's beautifully braided trailed down her spine, reflecting the sun's light like it was its own. Adorned with little white flowers tucked behind the burnt ginger strands, she was never more grateful for her maidens for their time spent every day without grievance for fitting them in perfectly. Her sapphire eyes, rimmed in a light blue hue, replicating the depth of the Poseidon Sea, could drown you. Like brown silk, polished in beady diamonds, her skin was so delicate that even a stare could bruise her. For as long as the sun existed, she would keep absorbing its glow, returning the gesture.

Only crows hovered where she sat. Their caws like a hum from her soul. Grey had seized where blue once rested, and though daylight had fallen into night at least a hundred times since, not the smell of burning flesh, screams echoed once through the hollow bay or the screeches of enormous claws crushing wood could meld what she had endured into a distant memory. Nothing felt the same.

Her hair flowed down to the bend of her leg like midnight silk, teasing golden light as if it bent toward her. Burnished bronze skin challenged the rising sun with a kiss as bright as it was.
