Sadly, i don't think this is at all likely, as it would crash our economies as well as theirs

Mum: Why did you smear spaghetti sauce all across the walls?

Karoline: This relates to a question Dad asked about the Teletubbies show I was watching, and what's interesting is that show has been taped on VHS so it's freely available for anyone to rewatch it. I'll now take a question from the dog

Great thread- now this is what is need to be said (eg to Nick Robinson on R4 this morning!) - maybe something like this would be a good counter to the budget crap discussions which have been dogging the media today.

I love this idea and hope its being vigorously pursued all over the UK.

Looking at the forward episode summaries (up to 2 jan) - its possible that something big is going to happen after Christmas..... I guess it wouldn't be the Archers if it was all sweetness and light

Would be far more significant in a proportional system

Indeed.. well, said. Most of the general public would think day 1 unfair dismissal was a step too far.

Yes.. it does eat into the capital. I have one: better for me to have resources now than to hand more to my beneficiaries and suffer trying to make ends meet. If you have a £2m house and need to raise a small amount to pay the mansion tax & to live a little more comfortably) then its a no-brainer.

the other option, of course, is equity release. Quite an attractive proposition when you are in your 80s.

"Hurrah for the blackshirts"- is this deliberate?

TBH I am pretty centre left and unlikely to change- but do find the performative anger from the more left than me very wearing. If we are to avoid a right/far right government, I believe we need a more constructive, pragmatic and compromising approach

To be honest, day one protection did seem batshit crazy.

Totally agree. The righteous indignation from some on here drives me from my left-leaning tendencies towards the right.

Beth is truly the worst at the continual questions in the hope of a gotcha

Is it solely her? I lay most of the blame on Starmer- to be bold she would need his support and encouragement; and a clear and bold vision.. but of course that's sadly lacking.

I'm immensely grateful for your sacrifice. She is so awful I can't bear to listen to her. I would have no idea if she said anything sensible, as her tone and delivery is so off-putting.

ooh where is it?
