Member of the Senedd for North Wales | Chair of Cross Party Groups on Animal Welfare and Public Transport | Welsh Labour
Nigel Farage thinks the minimum wage for young people might be “too high”.

When many are struggling to make ends meet, Reform UK’s answer is to make life harder for young workers.

While they talk about cutting young people’s pay, Labour in Wales is capping their bus fares at £1.
November 6, 2025 at 1:35 PM
🚍| From Monday, bus fares across Wales will be capped at £1 for 5–15 year olds, with £3 day tickets.

A 38% rise in MyTravelPass applications shows how much young people value affordable transport.

I want to see capped fares made permanent - for a fairer, greener, and better connected Wales. 🌍

Delighted to have already had over 1,000 responses to my survey of North Wales residents.

I want to know the priorities of the region so they can guide my campaigns moving forward as your Member of the Senedd.

It was brilliant to host Basketball Wales in the Senedd & I'm looking forward to working with them to deliver a national facility here in North Wales.

Basketball is one of the most inclusive sports in Wales - bringing together young people from all backgrounds, abilities and communities.🏀

It has been one year since the launch of the North Wales medical school in Bangor, with the first students set to graduate in 2028.

They are the doctors of the future who will help our NHS deliver better services for patients in Wales. 🧑‍⚕️🚑🏥👩‍⚕️

It was great to appear on @sharpenditv.bsky.social this week and promote Welsh investment in publicly owned renewable energy projects in North Wales.

Profits will be put back into public services, not spirited away by overseas shareholders as has too often historically been the case! 🌹

As a former council cabinet member, I know how tough 14 years of austerity has been.

That’s why this week I pressed the First Minister for a commitment from the Welsh Government to use every tool to shield councils & public services from inflationary pressures, while other parties risk more cuts.

I've written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, calling for prudential borrowing powers for Wales.

The current £1bn cap restricts our ability to invest in homes, transport, health, and education.

To deliver our national renewal, we must unlock Wales' ability to invest.

As Chair of the Senedd’s Petitions Committee, I’m working with STAND North Wales CIC on making #BlueBadges lifelong for those with lifelong conditions. This is a social justice issue - and we must fix the system.

🚨🚌 From Monday, all 16-21 year olds in Wales will be able to benefit from £1 bus fares and £3 day tickets.

Across Europe, free and capped public transport has worked in cutting carbon emissions, boosting connectivity, increasing patronage, & tackling social isolation.

I have written to the Foreign Secretary calling for a full arms embargo and a widening of sanctions on Israel.

Deaths from starvation and the killing of those queuing for vital supplies represent a new level of cruelty.

Action is needed now to bring those responsible to account.

Delighted that from September 1st, 16-21 year olds across Wales will get £1 bus fares for a year, and unlimited day tickets for just £3.

To get the discounted fares, you must register for a MyTravelPass if you don't already have one: mytravelpass.tfw.wales

Standing with @yes.cymru at the Senedd in support of devolving the Crown Estate to Wales.

With backing from all 22 Welsh local authorities and cross-party support in the Senedd, it’s clear: it’s time for Wales to take control of its own natural resources. #DevolveTheCrownEstate

Delighted to see that the £26m coastal defence project in Prestatyn has been completed 9 months ahead of schedule.

With rising sea levels and more frequent extreme weather events, this investment will protect more than 2,000 homes and 85 business across Prestatyn.

Looking forward to appearing on @sharpenditv.bsky.social tonight to discuss the Spending Review and the £445m provided for Welsh rail.

Great to be on @sharpenditv.bsky.social this week to talk about the Welsh language and the 2026 Senedd elections.

I had the opportunity to promote the difference Welsh Labour has made: free prescriptions, opposing PFI, Free School Meals & breakfasts, keeping & increasing EMA, and much more!

📺 Very much looking forward to appearing on @sharpenditv.bsky.social this evening to discuss the 2026 Senedd elections and the Welsh language.

It was an honour to host my annual Biodiversity Day in the Senedd.

I invited organisations into the Senedd to promote the vital role of biodiversity in keeping our planet healthy.

It was great to be with like-minded people who are so committed to improving biodiversity in Wales.

The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome!

Back in 2019, as a County Councillor in Flintshire, I launched a Senedd petition calling for buses to be run for people, not profit. It gathered over 3,500 signatures.

Six years later, I am delighted that now, in 2025, Wales has begun the journey back to public control of our buses! 🚌

📺3️⃣| I was delighted to be invited onto the Sharp End on ITV this week. @sharpenditv.bsky.social

I spoke about the upcoming Bus Bill which will bring back much-welcomed public control of Welsh buses, the new visitor accommodation levy, and 18 years of free prescriptions in Wales.

At FMQs this week, I asked @prifweinidog.gov.wales about the £120m Welsh Government investment in fixing roads and pavements.

This is vital for local authorities and I'm delighted that the First Minister is listening to the concerns of residents here in North Wales.
March 27, 2025 at 10:52 AM
North Wales residents have the highest standing charges anywhere in the UK.

Sky-rocketing bills demand bolder action than what is currently proposed by Ofgem, which is why I have submitted a response to their consultation calling for social tariffs & rising block tariffs with free essential energy.

I've long been calling for free & capped public transport in Wales. From Malta to Luxembourg, and Montpellier to Tallinn, it has worked across Europe in boosting connectivity & tackling climate change.

So I'm delighted the Welsh Government's budget includes £1 bus fares for 16-21 year olds in Wales
