Watersheds. Bioregion. Movement. What would it take to #RegenerateCascadia? To create the conditions for a regenerative movement to thrive.

Except that is not true at all. #Cascadia is a movement growing here for more than 40 years, and was started in a series of bioregional congresses in the 1980's, with participation of wisdom keepers such as Vi Hilbert and Lee Maracle. It's rooted in the idea of #bioregionalism and #decolonization.

🌎 What is the Department of Bioregion?

It’s a global movement redefining how we relate to the places we live, guided by watersheds and ecology, not divided by borders.

Rather than State Departments, we’re building Bioregional Departments. Swipe through to explore more!

Cascadia and bioregionalism stem from bioregional mapping and bioregional congresses in the 1980's. It's one of the things I love about it - is that it is a decolonial view of the Cascadia bioregion, that breaks down arbitrary lines and boundaries, and is regenerative and just.

🌎 What is Bioregionalism? It’s more than a philosophy — it’s a way of life rooted in place. It asks us to align our politics, culture, and economy with the natural boundaries of watersheds, soil and terrain.

Swipe through to explore how bioregionalism calls us home to place.

Interesting. Sounds like you hang out with some crappy people. But let us tell you about the last people we saw waving pro-America flags.....

Working with local First Nations & Indigenous organizers and communities in right relationship is one of the most important parts of our work. #Cascadia and #bioregionalism grew from these ideas in the 1980s, and is a two eyed way of seeing, which is rooted in decolonization.

Cascadia and ideas like the Salish Sea grew from bioregional congresses in the 1980s in cooperation with local Indigenous knowledge holders like Vi Hilberts, and Lee Maracle. Bioregional mapping itself comes from nations in BC asserting sovereignty in court cases which spread to gulf islands in 90s

We work with many First Nations, Indigenous organizations, communities and organizers. Beyond land back, we believe in co stewardship, governance and coming in right relationship. #Bioregionalism is a two eyed way of seeing that is compatible with an indigenous view.

Says someone with an American flag as an icon. Can't get more American nationalist than that, even when you wrap it in rainbows. #Cascadia is rooted in bioregionalism, decolonization and breaking down arbitrary borders. It grew from First Nations living here. So take your whitewashing elsewhere.

We love the McCloskey map. It's a true bioregional atlas, not just a single layer.

#Seattle. #LA. #NY. #Chicago. #Philadelphia.

#Cascadia. Heads up.

Be aware that these first rounds by ICE & Feds is designed to provoke a response with large scale data capturing in the backend to identify who to go after next.

Stay safe. Be smart

Sounds like you hang out with some shitty people. #Cascadia is a movement that has been growing here for more than 40 years, rooted in #bioregionalism, decolonization and growing systems that are better representative of people, ecosystem and place.
