The current assessor says he encourages property owners to appeal their assessments, but that's not the flex he thinks it is. As your next Assessor, I'll make assessments fairer, clearer, and accurate so fewer property owners feel the need to appeal in the first place.

Families are being priced out of their neighborhoods, but it doesn't have to be this way. Other cities have taken steps to keep housing more affordable - and as Assessor, I know we can bring those solutions home to #NewOrleans.

Nearly 99% of New Orleans’ recent population loss is renters. That matters because cities need people to thrive, and renters are a huge part of our tax base.

Casius is the only candidate for Assessor looking at this data and offering real solutions.

In 2020, the Assessor cut commercial property assessments by 25-57% without any individual determination of loss.

That one decision, made without input from the Mayor or City Council, cost New Orleans $42 million and left out most small business owners and all residential properties.
