No more posting only sleeping. Welcome to the world little buddy

Yea it gets cast as a choice and moral, noble self sacrifice of the “truly good mom” which is odd because I was thinking that was lefty feminist researcher
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
True. And won’t stop bc too many folks agree with this view of male authority and entitlement to women’s care/bodies/labor even if they’d see themselves as being more benevolent

It means this. Your other question is adequately covered in prior discussion about housing deposits. Have a lovely day with your feet.

. Instead of pursuing a conversation with someone who has kindly asked you to stop, perhaps think about what effect reporting a homeless person without papers may have- and how “don’t throw money at it” to the poor but subsidise mortgages for those with a quarter million sounds.
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
Listen if you think reporting someone to the state is as empathetic as giving them money idk what to tell you. Except thanka for your time, but I have to go eat lunch.

Surely“solving affordable housing” doesn’t mean legislation to help upper middle class people get homes and calling everyone else a problem? Have a good day! I research the Swiss right wing, and this exchange has been such helpful background.
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
Giving people money fixes the problem of not having money. But not sure what fixes the problem of healthy affluent people not having empathy for others.
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
Maybe instead of million dollar homes a solution is to say housing is a human right (even for people who aren’t perfect)
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
Also not sure you can say homelessness is caused by drugs/mental illness and exclude economics and social isolation see this Swiss study www.obdachlosigkeit.ch/wp-content/u...

I live in Luxembourg but as an American I remember the housing market crash and bank bailout well. Couldn’t agree more. That said 1.4 million compared to 30k seems pretty crazy too.
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
Oh you’re right - since the median house price is about 1.4 mill that actually makes the deposit around 280,000 sorry to underestimate
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
lol a place where a house deposit is 250,000 has not solved any affordable housing problem but this isn’t even the stupidest thing the times has published on the subject

Turns out nationalised health care isn’t “death panels” but actually helpful advice on getting the best maternity coverage. What would that be us — to give birth in a pile of stagnant water- it’s “raw” and “nature’s vaccine” - while my partner does push-ups in jeans

Woulda been cool if your guy had done any of this in the White House instead of killing welfare

Congratulations on having a cool son And grandson!

But for me the questions aren’t ontological but practical and political- what does focusing on individuals do vs focusing on power, discourse, institutions.
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
If we are discursive subjects then we are shaped with language, ideology, a social world. Im 9months pregnant right now and my little riot girl is amazing but I think she becomes a person through talk and touch and time and I’m pretty excited about that.

Such a great podcast! Listen to both makes me feel like I’m winning arguments with my 90s childhood

It’s true that reading stuff that’s both vacuous and pompous is probably not good for me, but I’d suggest you check those replies again and all that paternalistic “kids these days” discourse. Have a lovely day.
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
My issue is not in fact with understanding that “thought experiments “ with 1. Pretending good writing is distinct from intelligence or even opposed to it 2. The pseudo populist discourse that hides your snobbery about intelligence 3. your comparing people to the monkeys in this experiment.
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
Oooh did we switch to overt snobbery about intelligence?
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
That said I do moralize and judge them as shitty people, which does help me deal too :)
cat-tebaldi.bsky.social
Again I don’t think psychology is the explanation - choosing this makes it an individual focus on persons which you can either heal or moralize rather than looking at the institutions and powerful forces which make this happen.
