📣It shouldn’t take 9 months to fix a streetlight!!

We’re investing $500k in discretionary funding to get the lights back on in time for shorter winter days, and we’ll keep fighting for a sustainable streetlighting investment so families aren’t left in the dark.

Our team brought the first day of school energy across the district! ✏️📚

Everyone deserves to feel safe and welcome coming into class.

We stopped by to bring donuts and coffee to our incredible faculty and @utlanow.bsky.social teachers — a small thank you for keeping our children safe. 🍩

🌳 LA’s tree trimming cycle takes 15+ years – but in many areas of the city, we can’t wait.

We invested $100k in discretionary funds for trimming across the district. In just one weekend in Atwater, crews trimmed 60 massive trees, cleared debris, and kept it all green by turning it into mulch.

Our hearts are with everyone impacted by last night’s horrific crash outside the Vermont nightclub in East Hollywood.

We’re deeply grateful to the first responders and bystanders who rushed to the scene to save lives. Our office is monitoring the situation closely as the investigation continues.

👖 Denim Day began after a high-profile case where a sexual assault conviction was overturned because the victim wore tight jeans — sparking global outrage.

By wearing denim, we stand against victim blaming, raise awareness about sexual violence, and honor the courage of survivors.

The LA Conservation Corps provides training and paid employment to young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds while they clean up the city through week abatement, illegal dumping, bulky item pickup, and more. It’s a win-win-win for the entire community.

City Council advanced our package of immigration protections!

The Trump administration has made it clear that their mass deportation agenda is about separating families, attacking our neighbors, and instilling fear in our communities.

We need to fight back.

In District 13, we still have a handful of pedestrian tunnels that help kids get to school safely.

Recently, we worked with Vine St Elementary to secure their tunnel and power wash it to keep it clean. And this morning, we joined students and parents to paint a beautiful mural across the tunnel!

LA once had hundreds of pedestrian tunnels, especially near schools, to help children and families move around safely. But since the 1970s, many tunnels fell into disrepair and were closed.
