Depends what you’re looking for. When it’s sunny it’s packed, when the weather is bad it’s freezing. The prom is nice and flat for a stroll. There are also nice places to eat on the prom and up into Portobello.

Still dance in the kitchen to this.

No…I stumbled across this in a charity shop, not something I was expecting to find there.

Not something I’ve ever joined in with…I hadn’t realised they were here…on a music through the post topic I have eventually posted your 7” and @philk282.bsky.social CD…I’m so sorry for the delay, I’m just starting to improve with certain normal routine type stuff.

I’m not sure what this is(?)…is this in England? Apologies for ignorance.

If you are writing a paper or presentation around this I’d love to see the findings.
Have a great day.

Impacts on mental health, self worth emerge…’why amn’t I good enough’…there is also an expectation of constant reward rather than the joy or pleasure of just doing something. At worst they don’t have capability to learn or think by themselves when there is no (expected) reward.

While there can be place for reward systems it shouldn’t be driver, this just creates a false economy. Children need to be enthused and excited about learning. At a point teachers disappear…if a child expects reward for everything at a later point and that doesn’t happen then negative thinking 1/2

I think that can depend on the child, their values and attitudes, where they are with neural development. I have Primary four this year and the majority are keen to and want to learn.

Think another consideration is rewards offered by home for learning…extra pocket money, new clothes, etc for good report cards, exam marks…the ability to offer such rewards may be based on demographic.

I feel there is enough in places to warrant me holding onto it for a bit. We’ll see.

In School, as a pupil, I remember certificates at points in the year. Don’t remember any points or rewards system. Houses were more for sports day. I did primary in 70’s, high school in 80’s. Don’t know if trend for rewards was later(?)…hope this helps.

…this drives a desire to not just learn but improve. Table teams set by the children based on leadership skills matrix allows them to take further ownership.
I do table points for ‘funky fruit Friday’ (fruit reward) but these are more for tidy classroom than learning…3/3

At outset of term ‘language of learning’ is an early part of learning…children become confident in discussing their own learning, especially in terms of learning intentions, success criteria, social intentions, next steps, meta skills, etc…they also look at reflective feedback and peer feedback 2/3

In Class I use concept YOYOL (You own your own learning), learning is also discussed in the ‘Circles Of Control’ as something that can be controlled by children rather than just influenced or them having no control. Regular spider web check in question is around attitude to their learning…1/3
