OP's comment never applies, b/c it's arbitrary and authoritarian. It's true that a student from a high school or college in a Maga state could've gotten a worse education--but then they would be shut out of college or grad sch'l on the merits of the application, not just because of their home state.

Did you miss the part where I said you were responding to a different point? This thread started with someone saying that people from red states should be discriminated against in college admissions. They weren't talking about giving students remediation and support. Muting you if you keep this up.

If they have the talent to do well at the school, let them into the school! Or, you know, just apply the same admissions standards, with whatever math is already used to admit a diverse student body, to them! Don't geographically discriminate against people! That is nuts! Listen to yourself.

It doesn't matter. It would be nonsense to turn a qualified student down just because they came from Florida. It's wild that people seem to be arguing this. People need to listen to how they sound. It's as crazy and ideologically driven as Maga.

It's good you got a chance. Every other kid deserves that chance, no matter where they're from. If they meet the admissions standards of the school they want to go to, they should be admitted.

Yes, but still, admit students on their merits. Hold any student to the same admissions standards as any other. But don't disqualify solely because of the state they come from.

You're responding to a different point. It's great that they offered support classes for you. That other post was saying that there should be an arbitrary rule that certain states don't get their graduates accepted into college, even if, presumably, the graduates are highly qualified.

Both! I feel like symbols are important unifiers. But both are important. The one good thing about Trump--in the immediate aftermath, people realize what's important and support progressive changes.

And un-demolish the East Wing as well? Can't bring back the people who did unnecessarily because of him and his admin, but restoring the buildings--and stripping off that ugly gilt--might be some balm.
