Though we’re disappointed to not see urgently needed cleanup this year, we’re grateful to the leaders who fought to #FixSB131 at the end of this legislative session. You are true champions for environmental justice. Let's get this across the finish line in 2026.

🚨 Newsom just signed a bill that will EXPAND oil drilling in California 🚨

This signals “what could become a dangerous new pattern: allowing Big Oil to hold California hostage every time a refinery announces a potential closure.”

Newsom’s deal to cut energy costs includes giveaways to Big Oil, more drilling
OPINION: “What Californians need now are steady, clear-eyed leaders willing to stand with workers, communities and families — not fossil fuel billionaires looking for one last payday.”

The California Department of Housing and Community Development is considering whether to designate the City of Fresno as a Pro-housing City. A “Prohousing City” reduces barriers to housing, and can earn the designation plus receive priority access to grants for affordable housing.

Subsidies for oil & gas closures? Only for workers & communities—not billion-dollar polluters. Fund a managed transition that actually benefits the people. #JustTransition #ClimateJustice

The California Climate Credit must work for low-income customers and people in high-heat regions. Prioritize CARE/FERA households & add extra support for CA hottest areas. #EquityInClimate #ClimateCredit

Stop environmental rollbacks. Communities shouldn’t pay the price if SB 1137 is overturned. Kern County oil extraction must have a 2035 sunset and strict health setbacks. #StopPollution #PublicHealth

We need GGRF resources to support programs like SAFER & AB 617. Protect these programs—they directly improve and reduce harm in our most impacted neighborhoods. #FrontlineCommunities #ClimateFunding

Frontline communities are paying the price while polluters profit. Cap-and-Trade offsets let companies keep polluting and drain revenue from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund —money that should fund equity, health, and affordable clean energy. Phase out offsets now. #ClimateJustice #NoOffsets #GGRF
ceja-action.org
We need to improve AB 617 to directly reduce pollution in and near frontline communities. No accountability = no results. Local land use & CARB enforcement must align with community-approved priorities. #ClimateJustice #Environmentaljustice #CleanAir

Toxic industries shouldn’t get a free pass. SB 131’s exemption for “advanced manufacturing” threatens groundwater & public health, especially in communities already burdened by pollution. Lawmakers must fix this. Read more from Deja McCauley via Maven’s Notebook.
