Yep, Mikey got a full-throated lol out of me with that one.

(go watch it)

Were the weapons for this designed by AI too? They weren't made with the idea of authenticity in mind, that much is certain.

Like, this is nonsense. The only way for that to work is if it had a free rotating internal cylinder, but it can't work anyway because the barrel doesn't line up with it.

We love the translucent tech! I got one of those pocket emulators in a Game Boy package and added more colored buttons to it.

I'd be willing to have some leniency if he'd just call it another one of his random kitchen-sink-whatever fried rice monstrosities, but he threw together American BBQ sauce, sriracha, raw cabbage, mint, and coriander, and called that shit KOREAN. Fuckin' HELL

And as she also pointed out, this is why they want to sell games on the PS5, and why they're pushing for "Everything is an Xbox", because there are a *lot* more people who aren't playing games on consoles.

This was unfortunately called way back in 2023. The only reason the project was able to get by for this long was people like rahaeli browbeat the team into doing actual trust & safety, but now that they're mask-off they're fully burning down all those principles.

Age yourself with a movie you saw in a theater as a kid.

It's hard for me to separate what I saw in the theater versus what we had videotapes for (my dad did videography as a hobby and we had a LOT of tapes and recordings) but I think we all went to this one.

Here you can clearly see the difference in coloration versus a neutral light. But I want to point out the difference in detail specifically, because to me this is the change in artstyle that fundamentally alters the tone of the whole game. Remember I said Snake Eater was a 60's spy thriller?
September 3, 2025 at 7:15 PM
So let's see some examples of that.

The new model of Eva isn't BAD, but it's certainly different. In the original you can see the aforementioned glow that seems inherent to the model, and not just a lighting choice.

The next one is what put it over the edge for me.
September 3, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Yeah there was definitely a bloomed-lighting look in the original game, especially to the models, whereas Delta emphasizes very high detail and very HARD contrasts. Volgin's model really highlights that difference for me. It's hard to explain but it feels like it changes the tone of of the work.

Once more begging you all to lay off the twitter-reflexive quote-dunking so I can stop seeing posts with their sources blocked or deleted and have no fucking idea what the context was.

Like, screenshot it and leave off the author if you have to, but you've been here long enough to figure this out.

Probably would never have seen it if it weren't shown to me in a film class in high school. Utterly fantastic, rewatched it several times.

Also features Robin Williams as a dirtbag side character. 10/10.

My guy, I kept an active Mastodon account since 2022. I know exactly what it means to post in a system where you have to seek out accounts to build an active feed, where engagement was limited by user silos and limited population.

BlueSky is not that.

If you see this, quote this post with a title screen that's iconic to you

It's time to organize the retro / boomer-shooter collection.

Some of it to replay, some of it I never finished or never got around to.

And some brand new stuff like Selaco. And if anything in this list gives you warm fuzzies then you gotta try Selaco, because holy fuck that game kicks ass.

we used to be a proper country

anyway, curate your own music collection. own your media. it's the best way to make sure artists get paid and you keep your media indefinitely.

and preferably doesn't fund ongoing human rights disasters!

Legitimately one of the most downloaded games for the Steam Deck.
July 23, 2025 at 12:01 AM
I left it on the menu screen for all of a half hour because even though I'd fully completed HL2 before they did their time tracking, probably multiple times, I still had time on the clock. Don't tell *me* I ain't played this game.

I have had a Steam account for Twenty Years, what the FUCK do you THINK I WAS PLAYING AT THAT TIME
