Retiree. My cats run my life. They could do a better job of it, but they're cats. 😸 Also a long-time Detroit Lions fan. I don't blame my cats for that. Hello to any #UglyDogs from the old place. I'm not here to see how many followers I can get.

Oh, my, the Flyers lost tonight, too. Sports radio in that town tomorrow is going to be popping.

And here he is, fifty or so years later, performing the same song on John Mulaney's show. I don't think the audience today knew what to make of the song.

I will always find it funny that Randy Newman wrote a song that the Dodgers play after each home win, given what many of his other songs are like.

It's also funny that he wrote one of the most popular songs from a Pixar movie.

My favorite song of his:

If you love dictionaries, you'll love my chat this week with @stefanfatsis.bsky.social about his new book "Unabridged."

He spent years at Merriam-Webster learning how everything works, even writing definitions that made it into the dictionary (and some surprising ones that didn't). 1/2
A promotional image for the Grammar Girl podcast featuring Mignon Fogarty and Stefan Fatsis. Mignon Fogarty, a white woman with long brown hair, is smiling on the left. Stefan Fatsis, a white man with gray hair and glasses, is resting his chin on his hand on the right. Between them is a graphic of the cover of his book, "Unabridged: The Story of the Dictionary and How It Came to Be." The background is bright orange, and the title in large text reads: "INTERVIEW The fight for the modern dictionary." The Grammar Girl and QDT logos are also visible.

I was surprised, too, when they had him on camera attending last night's Dodgers game. He looks pretty good!

You guys sounded almost apologetic about a longer than usual episode. It was great! Loved hearing Lomas, and the review of his career. (I expected that he'd name quite a few of his teammates as Dan Campbell guys, especially Spielman.)

Enjoy Kansas City! 🤞for a Lions win.

And this morning, there was frost! But at least my phone warned me last night.

I know that after sixty-some years on this planet that I'm not supposed to be surprised by this, but jeez it's getting dark early.

Aw, it was good to see Sandy Koufax at the game.

And Taverner interrogating Ho! Those two were excellent.

I might watch it again tomorrow.

I loved that part where Lamb is telling the story about the Stasi, not just for the "You lot actually paid attention" line, but then when he says he made it up -- perfectly played, because either case is believably true.

I bet he thinks Habeas Corpus hosts a show on MSNBC.

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

I don't hate the Dodgers or Phillies, I'm just kind of tired of them.

The Yankees, on the other hand . . .

I'm rooting for the Brewers to advance, but I can't be disappointed by a Cubs win. Pat Hughes is so happy right now, and Wrigley is singing that fun song. 🧸⚾

I'm not a religious person, but if God allowed the Brewers, Cubs, Tigers, Mariners, and Blue Jays to be co-champions, I'd change.
