Fangamer Owner-Employee. Huge nerd that sometimes plays games on stream to raise money for good causes.

Getting stuck causes players to explore the world.

Dying causes players to think about what they're doing.

An "impossible" situation causes players to learn how the game works and eventually achieve the impossible.

We need to be able to design *some* games around these fundamental ideas.

It's tough. As an introvert myself, it took a lot of effort to get out there and build relationships.

Effort doesn't necessarily lead to romantic relationships, but it can lead to a relationship with a community, where romance may blossom. Even if it doesn't, community is a good consolation prize.

It's not even new. "There's no accounting for taste" is an ancient phrase for a reason.

Some use it disparagingly as they look down on others for their preferences, but for me it's always meant freedom to like what I like.

Reminds me of a story I heard from a senator who, after laying into Ted Cruz on the senate floor, later saw him in the bathroom. Ted smiled at him and said something like, "man, good job out there," leaving the man to wonder how many politicians really just see the whole thing as a game.

Honestly, I'm not sure it's appropriate TV for a 4yo. I was expecting to introduce the kids to it in a few years.

But wow, this kid is very into the lore of this show. I underestimated her ability to follow such a long plot line.

...I'm really looking forward to introducing this kid to D&D.

Yeah, or at least recognize that you may not understand your role at first, but if you put in the effort you'll come to understand and possibly even excel at the role over time.

A "stay there until you belong there" approach.

SOMEBODY in this scene should be smiling.

Not sure who, but somebody.

Probably Hank.

Reid, a thread is a continuous string of posts, each a reply to the one before it.

This is several posts in reply to the OP. This is an octopus. Or perhaps an octopost?

Or maybe just a frayed thread?

Worth noting that 5 years ago that 40% was probably 90% of our employees.

To be clear, my party is still generally optimized for JP acquisition and working my way through job trees. If I respecced my party to lean into their strengths it would probably have been much easier.

Still, the fact that I've considered dropping the training weights at all is notable.

To me, it signals that someone is preparing not just to be honest, but vulnerable.

"What I'm about to say may change the way you look at me, and I'm prepared for that."
