The quote to upgrade my Fargo levers, calipers, derailleur, etc to mostly X0/Force level was $5500 with labour. Components are just too damn much. I'm seriously contemplating switching to disposably-priced bikes.

I got a quote for a new AXS drivetrain, but balked at the price, so didn't get to experience this yet.

My new little portable 3-port USB charger from Anker has bluetooth to pair with a phone app, and that had a firmware update... so that's a new one.

Except they abandon their shit and stop giving you updates after a measly 2 years, so it should be 85%.

I believe we should all have clean water. And a sewer system. We all got together, created a society, so we can provide services like that, which everyone needs.

I believe we should also provide public healthcare. Everyone needs it - lets' do it. And schools.

And transit should be the same.

What if, hear me out, we had plants in the city?
November 28, 2025 at 8:23 PM
I'm tired of all of this. Everything I do is just money for corporations and shareholders. Fuck these politicians - none of this shit is *really* in *my* best interest. The working class is being EXPLOITED, over and over, from every angle, and I'm fucking tired of it. We need to WAKE THE FUCK UP!
November 28, 2025 at 8:02 PM
Don't they profit off me enough already, when I BUY the products?

Our politicians mumble on jobs/economic benefit, blah blah, but there should be a BIG RED LINE between public interest and corporate profit, and they're increasingly crossing that line, funneling taxes directly to private interests.
November 28, 2025 at 8:02 PM
But the government using BILLIONS of our tax dollars to buy a pipeline or processing plant for some *PRIVATE* corporation, to profit private *shareholders* (and ruin our planet)?

Fuck that.

Why can't corporations buy their own damn things? Why does money need to come off *my* paycheck to buy that?
November 28, 2025 at 8:02 PM
I STRONGLY support public education, public healthcare, social programs, and all of that.

If you want to use my tax dollars to build a hydroelectric plant, owned by the *government*, I think that's *GREAT*...
November 28, 2025 at 8:02 PM
And, that's all bad enough, but increasingly, I'm not just getting exploited by private corporations and rich shareholders on the *purchasing* side, let's talk about the *earning* side...

Before I even get my paycheck there's taxes.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a strong believer in *socialism*...
November 28, 2025 at 8:02 PM
I need to eat. Does someone really need to profit off of that? Is there really no way to supply food to citizens at cost? Why do I have to work all day to buy excessively marked up food from some fancy grocery chain that then pays out millions to a bunch of rich shareholders?
November 28, 2025 at 8:02 PM
I pay $2500/month to rent a small (50 year old) 1bd apartment that, for most of it's life, rented for a fraction of that, but now, something something, market prices? Why do I have to work twice as long to pay that EXTRA rent, so some landlord can pocket all that?

If TMX is really somehow still not enough, this is a good time to remember that the UCP lost $2.1 billion dollars of taxpayer money cancelling Oil-by-Rail cars that could have alleviated that very demand! www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

The Alberta government is out $2.1 billion after unloading crude-by-rail contracts signed by the previous government, but the process and the reasons for the staggering loss are mired in secrecy.

A bit ironically, I actually live in Singh's riding. I voted for the other guy. The minute Singh declared his intention to call a non-confidence vote, while PP was polling for a majority, I was fucking done. It's a god damn miracle Singh didn't hand this country over to the fascists.

He seemed like the reasonable compromise vote at the time, but, make no mistake, after this, I won't be making that mistake again. bsky.app/profile/chri...
I lent Carney my vote to stop conservative fascism, but continuing to ramp up climate-destroying projects makes Canada part of the problem, and *my* vote part of that problem - and I really feel like I don't want to be a part of that anymore.

@mark-carney.bsky.social's "nation building" resource extraction projects basically make him the embodiment of @tbtoro.bsky.social's classic cartoon...

Honestly, how bad do you have to be where most people would be like "I wish they'd rip that shit out and put in a FreshSlice"?

Now I read Dell and other laptop OEM's have removed S3 sleep/standby support from most their laptop BIOS's? favouring S0 "modern standby", which doesn't really power anything off? WTF, I hate it here.
