Dear owner of this cybertruck, I would like to call bullshit on your sticker. Didn't we all know he was a piece of shit before these rolling stainless steel coffins hit the streets?

The Danish edition is unreal. Kind of this see through onion paper jacket and the the spine is exposed so you see each of the signatures and the title is printed on them. Crazy.

I just saw a TV ad for Claude AI that used an MF DOOM beat. Sacrilege.

Or McKenzie Wark's Raving, which is in like 8 languages now. Here it is in Italian, German, Danish, and I can't remember the others. Czech and Polish maybe?

Or this kick ass Polish edition of Sara Ahmed's Living a Feminist Life.

And often foreign publishers can do fun design things that we can't because it's cheaper to print where they are. Like this Spanish edition of Leigh Clare LA Berge's Marx for Cats, which has tiny little raised kitty shapes on the back cover. Divine.

My gig at @dukepress.bsky.social rules. I sell translation rights so our books end up translated all over the world, like these books on this table here. Japanese publishers make beautiful hardcovers with ribbon bookmarks, central and eastern European book designers are scary creative. Books are rad

This lyric from the new Geese joint: "I've got half a mind to just pay for the lobotomy and tell em get rid of the bad times and get rid of the good times too, I got no more thinking to do." Fuck. That hits too close.

Record collectors: any shop worth hitting up in Frankfurt, Germany?

This new Geese album is giving me all the tingles. And my favorite record store is out of stock. I need to order it stat.

So is anybody stoked for the reissue of the Plugged Nickel recordings? If you were going to have them, wouldn't you have them by now? Are they going to be remastered and sound way better, or just in deluxe packaging so it's just another cash grab from Sony Universal?
chris-robinson.bsky.social
Oof, not surprising. They owe my employer a big chunk of cash, as I imagine they do most publishers.

I just breadboarded another Atari Punk Console circuit so that I can make all the best noises.
chris-robinson.bsky.social
Wow I can't even figure out what you are talking about. Which is why I work in a different part of publishing.

It always kicks my ass for 2 or 3 days. The first 2 I feel like I've been hit by a truck. But sounds like it almost kills you. That sucks hard.

Although my time was pre-streaming and pre-algorithm, every reason DJs in this piece mention the value of college radio ring true: community, finding and supporting new music and bands, real, tangible media, and even the 3x5 index cards with years and years of music director notes on them.

Sadly, a few years ago my college radio station abandoned its 90.3 spot on the dial along w/ its call letters b/c students just wanted to make podcasts. College radio was a formative experience for me at the turn of the millennium, and I'm happy to see it apparently making a comeback.

College radio stations are seeing a surge in student interest.

Stations that once struggled to fill airtime are now overflowing with student DJs.

I spoke to 7 college radio stations across the U.S. to understand what is driving the revival:

Go to a record fair, even though you don’t like them. Convince yourself that the vendor who was there last year blowing out his jazz CD collection for a buck a piece would be there again. Look for him and don’t find him. You admit, you’re a little broken-hearted. You were kind of counting on him to salvage the day.
