...where I grew up, the prefixes were 868, 860, 863, a few others. The suffixes then were like 28, 07, and and 61, 60, blah blah blah. Really we were memorizing 3 discreet patterns of 3+2+2, not a unique 7 digit number. And we didn't memorize area codes.

I know Gladwell has come under fir lately but he talks about this in one of his books. Basically Chinese numbers are shorter and they can memorize longer strings. As for phone numbers, you might not realize it, but prefixes and suffixes have/had a specific pattern to them...

I was thinking yesterday how ironic it is that the highlight of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...is Santa. But I've also enjoyed the handoff from Tom the Turkey to Santa. Just feels like it should be the end of the day, not the beginning.

my philosophy is that a 4 or 5 day holiday is not worth wasting 2 days in travel to accomplish. You're trading work stress for travel stress, not actually enjoying time off.

so something similar happened to me once and a buddy and I basically reverse engineered the GPT prompt until we got very similar language to what was used.
