the amendment (updated text released over the weekend) doesn't authorize additional land sales....it expands the pool of eligible land they can draw from to hit ~3 million acre target

you’ll get no argument from me on that (i run a substack that is almost exclusively focused on aggressively covering threats to the public domain, including Lee’s latest attack)…but accuracy on this is important

also, if Trump rolls back national monuments, those lands would become part of the pool of lands open for potential sale, but a monument rollback wouldn’t simply make 13.5 million acres available for purchase…again, the bill caps lands to be sold ~3 million

hi Heather. The bill does not authorize the sale of 258M acres over 5 years….it mandates the sale of ~3M acres over 5 years…the 258M figure (which keeps changing) is lands that are eligible for potential inclusion

yes, this sets a dangerous precedent…but right now, the cap is 3M acres
