A massive problem today is the uneven distribution of shame. Some of us are running dedicated on-site shame servers 24/7 while others have no access to shame at all, even though they desperately need it. What we need to do is put shame in the cloud

There’s a whole cadre of people who the internet just totally mentally destroyed. Not kids, but middle aged people, behaving like *this*.

I dunno maybe they were monsters anyway, but they definitely are now.

“Halfway to Ukrainian independence”? Seriously?

During the talks, Marco Rubio reportedly said: “We are already halfway to securing Ukraine’s independence. Today we made significant progress.”

What this Reeves lying nonsense very obviously boils down to is immense disappointment on the right that the budget did not tank the markets. They wanted a Truss moment causing huge problems for millions of people but didn’t get one. They are patriots, apparently.

Dismal framing. Every aspect of most asylum seekers’ lives is controlled & paid for by the Home Office. They can’t work, are told where to live & have no autonomy or dignity. So they aren’t *choosing* to use taxis & don’t need to be “banned” from doing so. The HO just needs to get its act in order.
Government to ban asylum seekers from using taxis
The ban is set to come in February and any exemptions will have to be signed off by the Home Office.

The Home Office’s absurd taxi bill results entirely from its insistence on forcing people to move round the country without choice or notice, & to live on the breadline so they can’t afford public transport. That Mahmood didn’t know about it till the BBC told her shows how appallingly the HO is run.

I see the Indy is also going with asylum seekers being “banned” from doing something they were being forced to do unwillingly in the first place, so presumably this is how the Home Office‘s press release is framing its own admissions of incompetence and waste

It's part of the electionification of everything, which is why we as a country are failing to have a proper conversation about our actual problems. It's bad for the left *and* the right.
It's such a bizarre framing. Labour MPs think taking 450k kids out of poverty is putting the country first! That's why they wanted it to happen! It's not because they personally benefit.
Headline on The World at One just now:

"Sir Keir Starmer has denied putting the Labour Party before the country by ending the two-child benefit cap".

Can we please go back to reporting the actual news, not someone's partisan take on it?

‼️🇷🇺⚠️It must always be understood that Putin's statements are lies. His words must be reversed, namely:

📍Europe will be my next physical target, as I have been spreading disinformation/propaganda for nearly 20 years to destroy it. And I am delighted by the naivety of democracies 🇪🇺!
🇷🇺 “Russia has no intention of attacking Europe and is ready to officially confirm this in a legal format.

In recent years, we have repeatedly sought to establish appropriate legal mechanisms within the pan-European security framework,” — Vladimir Putin.
